About Us

After graduating from college with a Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering, I began working for United Space Alliance at NASA Johnson Space Center on the Space Shuttle Program. So as the website name alludes, I really am a rocket scientist (it sounds a lot more impressive than it really is). It was during this time that I realized that I truly enjoyed computer programming and software development. I not only enjoyed it but I was good at it. As time passed, in addition to my engineering responsibilities my programming responsibilities started to increase.

With these new responsibilities , I was given quite a bit of latitude to be creative and to develop tools that would be helpful to the other engineers to do their jobs "better, faster, cheaper." Many of my projects were automation-focused and eventually included the entire production process: from the initial data gathering to a graphical user interface for the final quality assurance. After seven years of service with ever-uncertain budgets, I decided it was time to start looking for a job outside of government.

It was at this point that I was hired as a contractor for Shell Exploration and Production on a project called Logic. Logic is a subsurface evaluation tool that, simply put, helps the geophysicists and petrophysicists to determine where the oil is. In addition to regular maintenance and other application enhancements, my duties were to implement a variety of graphical applications that would help users to better visualize, analyze and manipulate data.

Much of my ten-year tenure at Shell has included the design, development and enhancement of graphical user interfaces. This puts me in the unique position of knowing how to put an application together to make it both intuitive and easy to use. This is a skill that serves me well in designing websites both large and small.

Over the course of the years I have been given a huge level of responsibility, and I have always provided my employers with solid support.
